Extreme temperatures can make home repairs urgent, especially for those living in older homes with limited resources. When a home isn’t adequately heated or cooled, everyday life becomes challenging. That’s where Permian Warrior Partnership (PWP) steps in, connecting veterans with the support they need to improve their quality of life.

Marine Corps veteran (’75-’81) Steve Belknap first reached out to PWP during the summer of 2024 when his air conditioner stopped working. Understanding the urgency, PWP worked with Lowe’s Home Improvement, which generously donated a new window AC unit to restore relief from the heat.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.

Months later, as temperatures dropped, Steve found himself facing new challenges. His heater wasn’t working correctly, and his home needed several critical repairs, including fixing holes in the floor, replacing the backdoor framing, repairing the trailer skirt, and installing new smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. PWP Case Coordinator Azzie Rogers worked diligently to find solutions. After connecting with local resources, Steve’s heater was adjusted to full functionality, new smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were installed throughout his home, and the necessary structural repairs were completed.

With a safer and more comfortable living space, Steve can focus on what matters most—his well-being and peace of mind.
