Homeownership is almost always guaranteed to be accompanied by unexpected costs. When Navy veteran Jessica discovered that squirrels had chewed through electrical wiring in her attic, she faced an urgent repair need in her home. Living in a small town with limited resources, she wasn’t sure where to turn.
This was when Jessica was referred to Permian Warrior Partnership (PWP) by a VA social worker for support.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.
PWP Case Coordinator Bre Durner quickly got to work, contacting local resources, but none had funding or support for this type of home repair. Determined to find a solution, Bre reached out to West Texas Veteran Support Services (WTVSS) in Abilene. WTVSS Founder, a fellow veteran, was eager to assist. After reviewing Jessica’s application, he confirmed she was eligible for support and personally assessed the repairs.
Thanks to this connection, Jessica received the help she needed to restore her home’s electrical system. She expressed deep gratitude to PWP for finding a resource that could get the job done, bringing peace of mind to her and her family.
