At Permian Warrior Partnership (PWP), we are always grateful to see those we have supported go on to live happy and healthy lives. Nurturing relationships builds invaluable trust between us and the veterans in our community. One veteran we are so happy to see continuing to thrive is Cecil ‘Buddy’ West.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.
Buddy is an Air Force veteran (’81-’91) who PWP previously helped in dire circumstances when he was unable to work due to his disabilities. These circumstances left Buddy unable to afford running water or electricity on his little income. Because of the lack of utilities, Buddy’s generator was dedicated to powering a breathing machine he needed every 6 hours and a small portable heater. Thankfully, PWP Case Coordinator Breanna Durner was able to help Buddy get back on his feet in April of 2024. Since then, Breanna has maintained a consistent communication line with Buddy to ensure his needs are met.
Breanna recently checked in on Buddy to see how he has been doing since they last spoke. He told Breanna that things were going well, and he felt blessed. Buddy gleefully told Bre that the VA had approved his claim increase from 10% to a 90% disability rating. He even received back pay. Buddy’s life has taken such a vast 180 since PWP met him; we are overjoyed to see how his quality of life has improved his outlook. Buddy again thanked Bre for all that PWP has done for him over the last year. PWP is so proud of our work and the impact we create for so many veterans like Buddy in our community.
